I just couldn’t stand it. The e-mail below went to the three Washington DC individuals supposedly representing me – Senators Mark Udall (D-CO) & Michael Bennet (D-CO) as well as Rep. Scott Tipton (R-CO). I just get so tired of this baseline budgeting, Omnibus Bill method of funding our bumbling federal government:
Here we go again! Almost 1600 pages of rather important legislation, kept hidden behind committee doors until 48 hours before a vote that must be done RIGHT NOW!
You legislators seem to cry about having to operate ‘this way’ – but you are the ones that operate ‘this way’.
We must get away from funding our government ‘this way’ and get back to a simulation, at least, of good fiscal management practices.
- $612 Million MORE for the Head Start Programs – which the current administration analysis says is failing! Why?
- Almost $1.4 BILLION for that money pit called Amtrak! Sounds to me like some new management effort wouldn’t be wasted there!
- $1.65 BILLION for the Job Corps – just another stopgap unemployment program that is proven to not help the participants get better, higher paying jobs! Again…Why?
- ETC., ETC., ETC.!
I’m not a fan of micro-management but what’s “micro” about BILLIONS of dollars?
How many more years of this do we taxpayers have sustain?
Make 2014 the year of fiscal operation reform. Go back to approving a budget in a professional, timely, responsible manner…
Or is that just asking too much???
