I have a DREAM…

To my Congressmen:

I have a dream.[1]

  • I dream about a nation where “We The People…”[2] recognize the sovereignty of the nation formed by the Constitution of the United States.
  • I dream about a nation where included in “…The People…” are those citizens[3] fortunate enough to have been given the honor and trust by the electorate [4] to be selected to represent the citizens in the US Congress.
  • I dream about how those individuals should truly be representatives[5] of their electorate.
  • I dream with pride about how my country has opened its arms to those that show respect and demonstrate the willingness to join our citizenry in a defined and lawful manner.
  • I dream about those representatives having been elected the House of Representatives and Senate of the United States and dream about them actually exercising the trust provided them by the electorate to “…establish Justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity.”[6]
  • I dream about my representatives upholding their Constitutional responsibilities respecting and protecting the sovereign boundaries, culture, language, welfare, liberty and posterity.

Then I realize what You, my so called “Representatives” are actually doing to my country and my dream:

  • You (my so called representative Senator) have helped impose uncountable legislative regulations upon the citizenry, many of those regulations construed to earn political or financial gain for our representatives or those close to our representatives.
  • You have taken from the citizenry with ever increasing taxes and beyond that, borrowed with abandon, and spent those resources on ever increasing activities and regulations well beyond the scope of your Constitutional charge.
  • You have begun to intrude not only into the citizenry’s freedoms and liberty – but are actively beginning to dictate how the citizenry must live their daily lives – what they should by, what they should read…
  • You have created a totally uncontrollable myriad of unmanageable government rules, requirements and regulations many of which You will not even attempt to enforce – making the effectiveness of all seem ambiguous if not completely unimportant.

My dream continues to be a nightmare!  Represent your citizens and get to work respecting the honor and trust we have given you.

    Well, it seems that maybe you have inflenced the congress to actualey read the consitution (except for a few pesky admenments) and it would have been good if they all would have hung around to listen to it.

    A great way to start off the 112 Congress. As our elected politicians began to fold on their campaign promises (and they will) it is important to know where “bedrock” is… and to remind them daily.

    Trying to separate a politician from spendable funds (they have long past any concern that it may be money raised by borrowing) is like trying to separate a committed addict from their dope. Just look at all the long faces when the subject of earmarks comes up. They litterally don’t know what to do…

    There will be many more supposed political “conundrums” (mostly centered around demands for money – that being non-existant “public” funds) our elected politicians will be facing in the fairly short term… with some additional gay and illegal immigrant rights thrown in just so we don’t lose our moral compass.

    Instead of scheming on how to get “public” funds borrowed from the Chinese back to the home state and/or district to buy votes they are going to be faced with the real prospect of several states publicly announcing insolvency (states can’t really declare bankruptcy) in order to “justify” more deficit spending and a continuation of Federal Bailouts. About mid February is when the State and Municipal debt bubble will really start to be front and center… with the city of Chicago and the state of Illinois leading the pack. I wonder why that is.. ?

    And the “answer” will be… print and spend more money or.. we “risk” a deflationary spiral.

    This is the road to perdition and “they” and “we” know it.. but its worked so far… hasn’t it ? So as long as the world debt markets will allow us to borrow money at unsustainable low rates (because we are still the “safeist” place on the planet ? and Europe is going down the tube ahead of us..) thats what the Fed and Tsy will do and a majority of our Federal elected politians will “get in line”… because, from a political point of view, that is the “only” reasonable choice… and interest rates are really low.. so we would be fools not to take advantage of the situation.. right ?

    The real question is… and the only area we can realisticly expect to see some “progress” is… can “they” reduce spending by eleminiating a lot of the bullshit programs they continue to fund which don’t work and more than a few are basicly laboratories for social engineering.. something we do not require and can no longer afford… forget the socalist implications.

    This will not even be a drop in the bucket compaired to the amount of deficit spending our elected politicians have and will continue to authorize.. but it is an extremely important first step and will provide a politically viable platform for re-election of some politicians. “Cut spending” must become a viable political platform producing positive economic results.. and we ain’t there yet… in fact there are hords of people fighting this proposition with everything thing they’ve got… like the Federal Reserve and the U.S. Tsy… and millions of Union members.. etc.

    Make no mistake.. deficit spending will continue in order to create an “engineered” inflationary environment to “contain” a slow motion, ongoing deflationary spiral… the deflationary conditions are the result of unsustainable levels of debt 92% of the places you look… and because more people are selling stuff to pay of existing debt than are buying stuff.. either with cash.. or.. (and this is what the Fed and Tsy really have to have in order for their plan to work) .. borrowing money to buy stuff.

    And, of course, our basic answer to the problem is to create more debt so we’ll (the Govt.) will have more $ to spend to “stabilize” and hopefully increase falling prices and “prevent” a deflationary spiral.

    At some point there is no more road to kick the can down… or the can gets so beat-up it just disintegrates… we arn’t there yet but there are still massive storm clouds ahead. Signs of a initial road “wash out” could begin with municipal defaults and bankruptcy declarations which will be forthcoming if our newly elected politicians say “no” to municipal bailouts.
